A Night Of Laughter And Astonishment At The Newport Playhouse

Some evenings are meant to be easy. Others are meant to leave you turning to the person beside you and asking, "How did he do that?" This Saturday in Newport belongs firmly in the second category.

Dr. Steve Taubman brings Mind Magic: A Night of Laughter and Astonishment to the Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant for one night only. The show blends comedy and mind reading with psychology and theater, built around Dr. Steve's sharp observational skills and a well-tuned sense of the absurd. Expect to laugh, gasp, think, and then laugh some more.

Why It Belongs On Your Calendar

Mentalism is one of those rare live art forms that cannot be replicated on a screen. It depends on the room, the audience, and the split-second exchange between performer and volunteer. That is what makes a cabaret setting such a good fit: close enough to see everything, and still not close enough to figure it out.

It is also an evening with purpose. The performance benefits NAMI Rhode Island, so your night out supports mental health resources for families across the state.

Make A Night Of It

With a 7:30 PM curtain, there is plenty of time for an early dinner beforehand and a late drink after to compare theories. Bring a friend who claims to be impossible to fool. Those tend to be the best volunteers.
