Creative Edge
Newport has a way of turning ordinary Saturdays into something worth savoring, and this weekend was no exception. The Newport Art Museum on Bellevue Avenue hosted a hands-on Floral Arrangement Workshop in partnership with The Daisy Edition, a woman-owned flower farm right here in Newport County. For an hour and a half, guests traded errands and to-do lists for fresh, locally grown blooms and the quiet satisfaction of building something beautiful with their own hands.
A Morning Among Local Blooms
Participants gathered at the museum from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM to learn the basics of floral design, from choosing complementary varieties to techniques that help arrangements hold their shape and color for longer. Every flower and vase was provided, so the only thing guests needed to bring was curiosity. Each person left with a table arrangement of their own, a small but lasting reminder of the morning.
It is the kind of event that captures why so many people fall for Newport in the first place. Between the historic architecture, the harbor views, and a creative community that shows up for workshops like this one, the city has a rhythm that is hard to find anywhere else. Local farms like The Daisy Edition and institutions like the Newport Art Museum are part of what keeps that rhythm alive, season after season.
Why This Matters for Life in Newport
At Edge Realty, we talk to buyers every week who are not just searching for a house. They are searching for a place where mornings like this one are possible. A short workshop over fresh flowers might seem like a small thing, but it says a great deal about a neighborhood: walkable, creative, and connected to the people and small businesses that make it feel like home.
Whether you are settling into Newport for the first time or you have called it home for years, moments like this are a good reminder to slow down and enjoy what is right outside your door. Keep an eye on the Newport Art Museum's calendar and support local growers like The Daisy Edition. You never know what other small, lovely surprises the city has planned.
