Mother's Day is Sunday, and it's one of the busiest restaurant days of the year, as many want to celebrate Mom with a lovely meal.
There are many choices all around Rhode Island. You'll find brunches at restaurants, rooftops or vineyards.
There are also adventures to be enjoyed that can be part of any special day. Think a river cruise, a tarot card reading or a visit to a fun museum.
Reservations are highly suggested, and don't forget to include children in your count so that restaurants can be prepared for your entire party.
What matters most is to plan ahead and let Mom ride shotgun on the way. She wants to enjoy the journey, too.
Here are nine ways to enjoy a Rhode Island Mother's Day.
Sakonnet Vineyard, the Little Compton winery at 162 West Main Road, offers their Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with items including a Yogurt Parfait with berries and granola, Egg White & Veggie Frittata, Croque Madame, a Breakfast Flatbread topped with egg, arugula, Cheddar cheese and choice of meat and a San Marzano Flatbread. Wine cocktails will be available, including Mama’s Sunset made with Eye of the Storm Rosé, Mother’s Vine Spritz made with Vidal Blanc and the Mom-Momsa made with Blanc de Blancs. Reservations can be made by emailing [email protected] or calling (401) 635-8486. After 3 p.m., guests can enjoy Sakonnet’s regular menu of small plates, cheese boards, charcuterie and flatbreads.

Before or after your brunch or dinner, you can bring Mom to the Newport Car Museum, 1947 West Main Road, Portsmouth. It's free for her with the purchase of an adult ticket, on Sunday, May 11. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. While the exceptional car collection is the major draw, there are also many eclectic mid-century modern furniture pieces on exhibition.
