" New Year’s Eve is all about indulgence. This is a night where we should support our local restaurants by ordering the fanciest of takeout, sipping from the rarest bottles of wine and bubbles biting into the most decadent desserts and living it up at the most extravagant soirees. We’ll give you a head-start by outlining what’s available from some of our favorite places in Rhode Island for takeout, dining in and events to ring in 2025.
The Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection in Newport is planning an extravagant Gilded Age-inspired New Year’s Eve Fete. The party begins at 8 p.m. with endless champagne, handcrafted cocktails, dishes prepared by executive chef Tim Caspare, and live entertainment. There will be intimate tarot readings in the Parlour, as well as more surprises in the Vanderbilt’s Library. The decor will feature fabrics from Brunschwig & Fils to complement the Gilded Age theme. Nab tickets to the “Casino Royale” Charity Casino Gala from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Reserve on Dorrance. The Casino Royale themed event will feature a red carpet arrival, cocktail hour, stationary dinner selections (think: roasted bistro tenderloin, maple bourbon salmon and stuffed lamb leg), live entertainment by the Dave Macklin band, “free money” to play casino games for the chance to win prizes and more. The gala will also raise money towards the Rhode Island Foundation’s Healthy & Safe Providence Fund which supports essential initiatives in behavioral health, addiction recovery and housing placement services within the Providence community. The Ballroom at the G’s “Diamonds Are Forever” Charity Casino Party kicks off at 9 p.m. and promises a lively night with music from guest DJ Derek “The Prince,” a champagne toast at midnight, late-night bites and party favors. Attendees can also try their luck at casino games like blackjack, poker, roulette, craps and a Money Wheel. Proceeds will support the Healthy and Safe Providence Fund. 4. The Chanler
The Chanler’s A Night of Frozen Enchantment will be a night to remember, combining the best of music, art and cuisine to ring in 2025. The evening will commence at 6 p.m. with a sparkling wine and canapé reception featuring a lavish shellfish bar and a charcuterie station, all complemented by a live painter who will commemorate the magical evening on canvas. During dinner, you will enjoy the sophisticated sounds of New York City’s Creswell Club. The winter-inspired five-course meal will consist of Nordic flavors and New England farm-to-table ingredients. 10. Oberlin
On New Year’s Eve, Oberlin in Providence is sharing a menu inspired by some of owner Ben Sukle’s experiences in and around Sicily, Italy. 11. Gift Horse
Gift Horse has not one but two specials happening on New Years. The first is a three-course menu centered around chef Sky haneul Kim’s KFC (plus vegetarian options and of course the full raw bar). Reserve a spot here. Second, the restaurant is hosting a Ringing in the New Year Party starting at 10:30 p.m. The party will include a midnight sparkling toast and passed hors d’oeuvres. 12. Castle Hill Inn
Head to the Aurelia at Castle Hill Inn on New Year’s Eve for a delectable four-course dinner. Menu items include parsnip veloute, Nantucket Bay scallops, dry-aged beef tenderloin and vanilla gateau. If you’re looking for an excuse to dress up, then the Ocean House’s Monte Carlo-inspired New Year’s Ball is the event for you.
