Sparks Over the Harbor: Celebrating July 4th in Newport

Save room for ice cream to finish things off. A live band keeps the energy going from 6 to 9 p.m., and there's a cash bar on hand for anyone looking to toast the occasion.

But the real showstopper arrives after dark. The resort's waterfront setting, framed by the Newport Bridge and looking out over Narragansett Bay, offers a front-row seat to the city's official fireworks display, which lights up the sky at 9:15 p.m. It's the kind of view that turns a simple holiday dinner into a genuinely memorable night.

Tickets run $55 per adult and $25 per child under 10, both inclusive of tax and gratuity. On-site parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with overflow parking nearby at the Newport Gateway Center. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, there's a rain date built in for July 5th, so a little drizzle won't wash out the celebration.
