There’s something magical about Newport in the fall—the crisp sea breeze, the streets lined with centuries-old buildings, and stories that whisper from the cobblestones. This season, those stories come alive on the Discover Colonial Newport Walking Tour, a recurring event presented by the Newport Historical Society.

Step Back in Time

Starting at the Museum of Newport History & Shop at 127 Thames Street, this 75- to 90-minute tour immerses you in the city’s colonial era. Guides share tales of entrepreneurship, African American heritage and religious diversity, painting a vivid picture of Newport’s past as you stroll through its narrow lanes. Expect to walk on uneven streets and cobblestones—comfortable shoes are a must.

When to Go

Running from May 23 through October 24, 2025, the tour is offered every other Tuesday and Friday at 11 AM. That means there’s still plenty of time to catch a tour before the season ends. Tickets are affordable—$15–20 per person with discounts for Newport Historical Society members, active military and children.
