Winter Classes at Newport Art Museum

One of Edge Realty's favorite local museum and art houses. Founded in 1912, the Newport Art Museum is one of the oldest continuously operating and most highly regarded art museums and schools of its kind in the country. Open Figure Drawing

RI Open Drawing is a three-hour long event every Saturday which provides an opportunity for local artists and those interested in figure drawing to practice, enhance their skills, and socialize with other artists. This is a weekly walk-in event, no registration is required, just bring your drawing supplies! Please note this class is for Adults only.

Drawing With Pastels

Join us for an immersive journey into the art of drawing with pastels! In this course, you’ll learn the essential techniques of chalk pastel drawing and how to create depth and dimension through color. We’ll explore pastel applications in portraiture, landscapes, and seascapes. The instructor will provide all reference materials, and in the final weeks, students will have the opportunity to bring in their own photo references for a personal project. Sketch & Style: Fashion Design

You’ll learn how to draw stylish outfits, experiment with colors and patterns, and develop your own mini fashion collection through illustration. Experimental Collage

Join us at the Newport Art Museum School as we experiment with analog and digital collage, juxtaposing different mediums, techniques, materials, and textures. We will consider for inspiration the collage practices of various artists, including Romare Bearden, Henri Matisse, Barbara Kruger, and Lorna Simpson, plus relevant artists represented in the Newport Art Museum collections. The class is open to all skill levels and will be conducted as an open studio with students working individually at their own pace with guidance from the instructor. We will explore themes such as memory, place, current events, and home. Students are encouraged to bring in their own materials: photographs, snippets from magazines, computer printouts, cards, posters, drawings, etc.
